Street Fighter 6 had a busy weekend, as CAPCOM’s upcoming title made appearances on both WWE and SNL.
For WWE, it was Royal Rumble weekend. Royal Rumble is one of the most anticipated yearly events for WWE fans, which also means it was a great way to get eyes on Street Fighter 6. WWE star, Zelina Vega, entered the Royal Rumble cosplaying as Juri from Street Fighter 6. During her entrance, CAPCOM announced that Zelina would be one of the available in-game commentators for Street Fighter 6.

The in-game commentators we’ve seen so far have all been prominent fighting game community members, so this announcement came as a big but welcome surprise.
Although Zelina Vega is more prominent in the wrestling world, she’s no stranger to fighting games. In the past, she’s made an appearance at a previous Royal Rumble dressed as Sindel from Mortal Kombat. It’s great to see CAPCOM branching out and bringing in figures from outside the fighting game community.
Street Fighter 6’s weekend didn’t end there, either. Last weekend’s Saturday Night Live also featured a skit dedicated to Street Fighter 6, where Michael B. Jordan and Bowen Yang pretended to record the in-game voice lines for Ryu and Ken – a great way to show off the game to an entirely different audience.

CAPCOM is casting a wide net for Street Fighter 6. If they intend to introduce more people to the genre and how great it can be, they’re going about it in all the right ways. Let’s hope for an amazing release!
Street Fighter 6 is scheduled to be released on June 2nd, 2023, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
