Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came out last Friday, and people are still talking about the game…for better and for worse. By now, you’ve heard the game is hardly flawless, and when you add in all the players spending their time on social media showing off the bugs and glitches…Gen 9 doesn’t have the “best look” right now. That being said, the games are doing well in terms of sales because we already knew the pre-orders for the new titles were above all other mainline entries. But now, we have a glimpse of how it’s doing in the UK.
As you’ll see in the tweet below, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are crushing it in the physical sales department. Digital sales will only increase the total as time goes on:
Pokémon Scarlet/Violet achieved the biggest physical launch of the year in the UK.
Second biggest Pokémon launch ever, only second to Sun/Moon (might actually be #1 with Digital)
36% bigger than Sword/Shield
70% bigger than Diamond/Pearl remakes
56% bigger than Legends: Arceus pic.twitter.com/2dynNBSpT0— Stealth (@Stealth40k) November 21, 2022
When the US and Japan’s numbers are added to the mix, the sales results for Gen 9 will likely be undeniable. But, as we said, it came at a cost of a title that isn’t as refined as it should be, and fans are not happy about it. We’ll discuss this topic more on the next Nintendo Entertainment Podcast!
