Only 24 hours after the announcement filled Silent Hill announcement stream, CAPCOM decided that they wouldn’t be left out of the Survival Horror love by giving their franchise with all the scares, Resident Evil, a showcase to present us with more information about their upcoming additions to the zombie-shooting brand.
Unlike the very direct and special effects ladened Silent Hill presentation, the Resident Evil showcase was presented by The Duke from Resident Evil Village, narrating to us while we walk through a very big library that would look like it was taken from some sort of Resident Evil museum.
The first presentation was an update on the soon-to-be-released “Winters Expansion” for Resident Evil Village, showcasing the story mode and the updates to both Mercenaries Mode and the RE: Verse sub-games. You can get your hands on the Winters Expansion on October 28th if you already own Resident Evil Village, or buy Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition if you have yet to play the game.
Additional information given for the upcoming release of the Winters Expansion includes that the whole Resident Evil Village game will be playable on PlayStation VR2 in the future, and a 60-minute demo of the third-person mode for Resident Evil Village is out now.
In addition to Resident Evil Village Gold Edition and Winters Expansion content, we were given a timeline update on the Resident Evil: Cloud Editions for Nintendo Switch. This includes the announcement that Resident Evil Village would begin the series of Cloud Edition launches on October 28th, with the Winters Expansion launching on December 2nd. Resident Evil 2 Remake will launch on November 11th, Resident Evil 3 Remake will follow on November 18th, and Resident Evil VII: Biohazard will end the Cloud Edition series on December 16th.
Finally, the showcase came to a close with more information and trailers for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake. This new trailer showed off some of the first Village areas from the original game, but with a few new changes added to give the game more depth and scale. The developers talked about how they wanted to keep it close to the original version of Resident Evil 4, but also add to it much like the same team did with the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Before closing the show, we got another story trailer giving us more information about the story, and revealing some familiar faces from the original in the new format.
Once we were done with the trailers, we got information about the Digital pre-order bonus offerings, as well as the deluxe and collectors editions of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Resident Evil 4 remake will be available on March 24th 2023 and is available to preorder now.
If you would like to watch the full presentation of the Resident Evil Showcase, you’ll have to watch two versions of the video which are embedded below. The first is the showcase most people would have seen, with the information about the Nintendo Switch Cloud Editions, then second, there is the PlayStation version of the stream, where the Switch versions video is swapped out for the PlayStation VR2 information.
