There’s been a lot of talk about the value of voice acting as of late. With AI voices being used in certain properties, to A-List celebrities taking roles from the legendary voices that everyone knows, and more. But now, we have another entry on that list, and it will likely get many of you mad. Hellena Taylor is the voice of Bayonetta from the video game series. She even reprised her role for the two Smash Bros games the character was in. But, she won’t be in Bayonetta 3, why is that?
In a three-part threat, Hellena Taylor noted that she was granted (after an audition…) the chance to be the Umbra Witch again. But PlatinumGames offered to only pay her a pittance. When she contacted Hideki Kamiya about this, he said he wanted her to stay on…and then only offered her $4000 to voice the entire game. That’s a lowball amount, and Taylor knew it, so she refused to be in the role again.
She asks fans to boycott Bayonetta 3 and donate the money to a charity instead. That way the money will be put to good use. If this is true, PlatinumGames should be ashamed. Taylor brought life to that character and made her an icon, and to throw her away because they weren’t willing to pay? That’s just wrong. Not to mention, they said she wasn’t there because of a ‘busy schedule’, which Taylor claims is a lie. Check out the three-part thread below.

After her statement, Hideki Kamiya replied, and it didn’t make the situation sound any better:
Sad and deplorable about the attitude of untruth. That's what all I can tell now.
By the way, BEWARE OF MY RULES.
