The PlayStation State of Play showed up with some solid entries and some interesting ones to say the least.
Tekken 8
We begin the State of Play with a gameplay trailer of the new Tekken, Tekken 8. Kazuya and Jin are duking it out as we get to see some real time gameplay. Some of the gameplay turns into cinematics as they throw in some fight scenes as well.
Star wars Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge
This is a small trailer that shows some of PSVR2 gameplay footage as you play as a droid technician and help solve some of the puzzles to fix up a ship to help save the galaxy or in this case leave to the other side of the galaxy. Not a whole lot was shown but it didn’t seem all that much different from normal PSVR to be perfectly blunt. This game is coming 2023 which means we will need to have access to PSVR2 before this game releases. So 2023 might be when we get to see this game come to fruition.
Demeo
PSVR2 game that you kind of play a D&D tabletop game with various mechanics. Kind of cool and I hope we can get like a sandbox VR tabletop game that lets you set up real D&D game instances because that would be sick!
Like a Dragon: Ishin
From RGG studios, we get the old game Ishin remade in the Like a Dragon engine. You see the main character utilizing guns and swords to take down enemies. Coming February 2023.
Hogwarts Legacy
We see a small snippet of the PlayStation Exclusive quest Hogsmeade House. It looks like a horror-esque quest that doesn’t have any connection to the main quest.
Pacific Drive
Ironwood studios very first game and it is a ps5 exclusive. You are in a car driving around and dodging various natural disasters like Lightning strikes. Interesting to see what else is in this game. Coming 2023.
PlayStation Stars
We got an update that PlayStation Stars will be available as early as late September in some areas. PlayStation Stars is a loyalty rewards program for PlayStation trying to compete more fully with Microsoft Rewards on the Xbox. Sony Rewards is now focused only on movies and movie tickets. Hopefully we get even more details on what tasks there are and if trophies help give an indication of what else there is to see at all. It showed off some of the digital collectible (Not NFTS) you can find.
Syn Duality
You are a girl controlling a small mech doing action paced tasks. Not too sure what else there needs to be on it. This game has a release date of 2023.
Stellar Blade
Project Eve is known now as Stellar blade and is a PS5 console Exclusive. Coming 2023.
Rise of the Ronin
Team Ninja PS5 console Exculsive 2024. You are a Ronin and fighting other samurai.
God of War Ragnarok
New Dual Sense controller as well as some more gameplay and cinematics were revealed.
A ton of titles that will keep you wanting to see more. We did not see any of the Square Enix titles which I am surprised about. Though I am also surprised we got another trailer for God of War Ragnarok since most were expecting that to not be shown until the Tokyo Game Show.
