Century: Age of Ashes Launches Today on Playstation Consoles

By Kyle SimcoxSeptember 26, 2022

Are you a fan of shooters? Would you like to live out your fast-paced dreams of soaring through the skies on the back of various dragons, engaged in aerial combat? Well, if you have a PlayStation 4 or 5 (both will also work), then Century: Age of Ashes developer, Playwing, has some great news for you!

Launching today on PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles, Century: Age of Ashes is a Free-to-Play multiplayer game that sees Dragoneers’ going head-to-head in the skies high above frozen fjords and majestic castles. There are four playable classes to choose from, each with its own unique skills and abilities that will help give them an edge over the competition. The Phantom class can vanish from sight, allowing them to sneak around their opponents while the Windguard provides support by shielding the Marauder and Stormraiser allies on the front lines.

There are five game modes to compete in such as the team deathmatch mode, Carnage, and the “Spoils of War” mode which features players trying to secure the most gold with their coffers across multiple rounds. The mode that has my attention, however, is “Gates of Fire” which is a form of Capture the Flag mode with a twist. Players must grab the flag and race through as many gates as they can while they compete through three rounds. Should their team get more gates than the other, they’ll win that round.

The game also features customization options, allowing players to add their own personal touches to the game’s classes and dragons. There’s also a plethora of eggs to hatch and unlock new dragons by completing specific missions. Being free-to-play, you can expect a store, battle passes, and micro-transactions but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s nothing too intrusive. Aside from experience boosters, everything else looks to be cosmetic.

Century: Age of Ashes launches today, September 26th, 2022 on PlayStation 4 and 5. The game is free to play and you can find it on the PlayStation store if you want to ride a dragon right now. PlayStation Plus members can also claim a free DLC pack that unlocks a new dragon skin and a 30-day double exp booster. As a fan of games that feature dogfighting, it’s the fantasy vibe I’m looking for. You can expect to see our review of the PS5 version of the game soon. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to facing you guys on the battlefield.
