Valefar is one of the bosses you’ll face in the devilish rogue-lite Cult of The Lamb. Bouncing everywhere and releasing fireballs from its mouth, this monster can be somewhat challenging to slay. Here’s how to beat it.
How to defeat Valefar in Cult of the Lamb
Valefar acts like a worm that drifts across the ground and jumps up at random points. Make sure to keep dodging to avoid its attacks. Whenever it lands, now is the time to strike. It’s best to use a sword rather than an axe to get quick attacks in. When you see it gathering energy for its fireballs, dodge back to the outside of the arena.
If you keep your distance from Valefar while it’s sending out fireballs around it, you’re more likely to dodge its attacks. If you remain close to Valefar, the fireballs are closer to each other, leaving less room to zip in between them. Once they’re scattered out, you can slip past the Velefar’s attack much easier.
The flames aren’t sent out in just a circle, either. The fireballs can be sent directly in front of the monster’s mouth, too, so keep your distance horizontally as well, just in case.
During the battle, it might also be worth using a ranged weapon against Valefar. Make sure there isn’t an incoming strike and shoot down your foe when the time is right.
After this fight, Valefar will turn into a follower. He will teleport to your base, and then you can direct them to chop trees, hit rocks, worship, or build.
Cult of the Lamb has successfully been ported to the Steam Deck. It looks gorgeous and runs very well on the system. It also seems perfect for a portable experience with short roguelite playthroughs of around 5-10 minutes.
