Later today, PlayStation will host a State of Play, which will be devoted to showing off either new titles or updates from 3rd parties. They’ll provide an update on the upcoming PlayStation VR 2, which will work exclusively with the PlayStation 5. Interestingly enough, this event also appears to be part of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, despite that taking place on June 9th, 2022.
This event will be available to watch on both Twitch and YouTube, at 3 PM PDT / 6 PM EDT. According to PlayStation, this event will run for 30 minutes.
As for what will be seen, it’s best to temper your expectations. It doesn’t appear that we’ll see or hear about any 1st party titles, so don’t expect to see anything God of War Ragnarok-related. Though PlayStation may be saving that for the Summer Game Fest, and 30 minutes simply isn’t enough to show us the gameplay that we’re hoping to see.
Will, however, see Horizon Call of the Mountain, which was revealed in early January 2022. This new PSVR2 title is being developed by Guerilla Games and Firespite and will provide a virtual reality experience built from the ground up for PSVR 2.
Tomorrow: Get a new look at Horizon Call of the Mountain for #PSVR2 during State of Play.

It’s also quite possible that we’ll finally get new info on Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XVI. It’s been known for quite some time that this game will be exclusive to the PlayStation platform and that Square has been teasing that they want to show it off. There’s even a trailer, but they’ve been holding on to it. And it also looks as if the official website for the title has also been updated. Will we see Final Fantasy XVI? It’s quite possible, but who knows.
As for other titles, well, there’s a bunch that we definitely could see or hear about. But again, let’s temper those expectations so there’s no disappointment. And if they do end up being shown, then we can all cheer together.
June’s State of Play takes place today, June 2nd, 2022, on Twitch and YouTube, at 3 PM PDT / 6 PM EDT.
