While DNF Duel for the PC looks to be a good port, there are several things that have soured me with the game. One of them is that the character models are not as smooth as they should be. I suppose blurry is the best way to describe them. Thankfully, there is a fix for that, as I’ll explain.
However, to correct this, you’ll have to edit a file. But not to worry, it’s not that hard.
How to fix the DNF Duel character models
- Before you can fix the low-res models, you’ll have to start the game at least once.
- With that out of the way, you’ll need to navigate to “C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Local\DNFDUEL\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor”. Be sure to replace “your_name” with the Windows User.
- The file you’ll need to edit is called the “Engine.ini” file. I’d recommend using Notepad to edit the file.
- In the file, you’ll need to add the following the lines at the bottom; “[ConsoleVariables] r.ScreenPercentage=200″
- Once you do that, save the file.
What this entry does is upscale the models, from the original 1080p to 4K. If you perform this and notice that your game struggles, you can knock it down to 150 and see if that helps. That said, I don’t recommend going past the value we’ve posted, as it will make the game run slower.
Can you tell which image below is which? One is upscaled, the other is the default value. Unfortunately, it’s hard to see it outside of the game, but if you look, you’ll notice that the colors a bit more vivid.
DNF Duel is available to play on PC, PS4, and PS5. Sadly, there is no crossplay, at least not as of yet.
