For about 5+ years now, Fire Emblem (the fan-favorite RPG series) has become a AAA franchise in the eyes of Nintendo. Yes, it’s been around for a LONG time, but for the longest of times, it was considered “niche” and nothing more. But with Awakening, Fates, then Heroes, and finally, Three Houses, everything came together to make it a franchise that is both a best-seller, and one that fans want more of. And as we’ve noted in the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast MANY times…there are all sorts of rumors being thrown around about what’s happening next with it.
And that brings us to today, because according to industry insider Emily Rogers (whose track record is better than many we’ve talked about here on The Outerhaven), there is not just a new Fire Emblem game coming…it’s been done for over a year. The game is reportedly a “collaboration between Intelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo and Gust (a division of Koei Tecmo Holdings)”, and and the graphics are said to be “an improvement over Three Houses”.
That’s a lot to process, and if it has been done “for that long”, one has to wonder…why has it taken so long to be announced? Or, why wasn’t it released last year or early this year? Given that it’s a collaboration, it’s possible that it falls in line with the upcoming Warriors Three Hopes title, but it’s honestly hard to say at this point. If the rumors of a Nintendo Direct later this month are true…maybe then is when it’ll get announced. Until then though…it’s just a rumor.
