Today’s State of Play showed us a new gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy XVI. Many were expecting this to be shown sometime this year since many leaks suggested the trailer was finished as soon as April.
This trailer shows the HUD, and it is very simplistic. It also showed a lot of the characters shown next to the various summons. Not only did we get to see a lot of the summons from the Final Fantasy franchise, but we also finally got a time period when it should be released. Summer 2023 is the now-stated time slot of when it will be released on the PlayStation 5. It has a limit breaker system that looks similar to Final Fantasy XIV for those who have played it.
It makes sense since Naoki Yoshida is also over Final Fantasy XIV. Nothing has been stated about all the consoles it will release on. It may be a timed exclusive for PlayStation, or it might release on Xbox as well. Only time will tell.
