PAX East may have ended and the post-convention depression may have set in, but that doesn’t mean we can’t share some final joy from this past weekend. Almost every year at PAX East, I’ve seen a Bioshock Infinite-themed barbershop quartet perform in the halls of the Boston Convention Center.
Well, the group has a name, fittingly titled BioShop Infinite. And this year, the quartet had a gathering, featured as the main act of the BioShock cosplay event on Saturday. Check them out performing the iconic rendition of The Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows” from BioShock Infinite.
Would you kindly give them a listen?

The quartet, consisting of members Nick Pasco (Bass), Tyler Appel (Baritone), Derek Tanch (Lead), and Greg Alexandropoulos (Tenor), has performed at PAX East for the last 8 years. The group members thanked Nick for setting their act up, and gave a shout out to Tyler since it was his birthday on Saturday. As part of their performance, they also sang songs from the game Cuphead, the Broadway musical The Music Man, and from the old ad for New Hampshire’s Water Country. Aside from an excellent excuse to hear an experienced barbershop quartet perform, the gathering also showcased some creative cosplay.
Here we have the whole crowd, including cosplay from BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite (Sorry, Burial at Sea, maybe next year):
Next up, we have the crew from the first two games, repping Rapture:
And, of course, the iconic “Spider-Man Pointing” meme, this time with a crowd of Elizabeths:
And last but not least, I wondered if I’d get to see the Lutece twins, and here they are serving up some absolutely withering looks:
All in all, a well-rounded cosplay event for one of my favorite games. Interestingly there were hardly any multiple of any one character with the exception of the four Elizabeths. But after all, knowing the ending of BioShock Infinite, that’s awfully fitting. I look forward to hearing BioShop Infinite perform again next year, and wouldn’t mind if this BioShock cosplay gathering became an annual PAX East tradition. To paraphrase the last game, there’s always a lighthouse, there’s always a man… and at PAX East, there’s always a barbershop quartet.
