Nintendo has released its first set Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass DLC, which includes a heaping helping of additional tracks for the best-selling Switch racing title. In North America, that is. Our lucky overseas counterparts have already played the DLC, while Nintendo made us all wait here. We’re talking about an additional 48 tracks, made up of prior Mario Kart titles that have been remastered and given new traits. These tracks will be released in six waves, eight tracks per wave, starting today and until the end of 2023.
The only way to gain access to these tracks is to purchase the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, priced at $25. Or if you’re a member of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, you’ll receive access to the DLC as a bonus. However, should that subscription lapse, you’ll lose access to the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. You’ll also need to already own a copy a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Here is the first of the eight of the 48 tracks that have been made available.

- Paris Promenade (Mario Kart Tour)
- Toad Circuit (Mario Kart 7)
- Choco Mountain (Mario Kart 64)
- Coconut Mall (Mario Kart Wii)

- Shroom Ridge (Mario Kart DS)
- Sky Garden (Mario Kart: Super Circuit)

While it was rumored that Nintendo was set to announce the eagerly anticipated follow-up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart 9. Nintendo, yet again, fooled everything and instead revealed the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. Now, that’s not a bad thing, and this has given everyone who purchased the original game lots of playing time. Yet, Mario Kart 8 was released for the Wii U back in 2014, then was updated as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Switch on April 28, 2017. Nearly five years later, fans were expecting to see the next iteration of the flagship Mario racer. Though, we’re talking about the company that loves to squeeze blood from a stone. As for when we’ll finally see Nintendo count to nine, that’s anyone’s guess.
