We’re so close to the release of Paramount Pictures and SEGA’s upcoming movie, ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2‘. I’m sure you have known all about it since you’re here. So, today, the two companies released what they’re calling the “Final” trailer for the movie, and in this trailer, we see a bit more about the film.
Like what, you ask? Well, more Sonic and Knuckles fighting each other, the return of characters from the first movie, and what they’ve been up to. Dr. Robotnik’s new powers. And yes, more of the Chaos Emerald making its introduction. Yes, we already saw this on one of the posters, but now we see how it appears in the movie. Oh, and an iconic track Sonic the Hedgehog 2 game happens to be a certain someone’s ringtone. It’s a great trailer, and if you weren’t already on the fence on checking out the film, then this trailer may be the catalyst that pushes you over the edge to see it.
Check out the trailer below.
Oh, and there’s also yet one more poster for the movie as well. Last week we reported on a new poster, but this one is even newer. This poster was spotted in LA by movie critic Scott Davis. And it’s even better, as it pays homage to the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Sega Genesis box art. It’s so damned cool, and my inner child has been cheering ever since I’ve seen it.

Here, you can see that the pose that Sonic and Tails are in is similar to that of the old school Sega Genesis box art, with the giant “2” in the background. Dr. Robotnik is also back, in the upper right. But if you look closely, you’ll see that Knuckles can be seen at the top of the number “2”. While Knuckles wasn’t in Sonic 2 the video game, he was in Sonic 3, and you could see Knuckles peeking from the shrubbery. That’s important, as the second Sonic the Hedgehog movie is encapsulating the Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic and Knuckles games into the film.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 releases in theaters on April 8th, 2022. I wish it were also heading to home streaming, but this may be the first movie since COVID-19 that I’ll see in theaters.
