It has been reported by Variety magazine that the Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim anime film is set to premiere on April 21, 2024. Joseph Chou, who did Blade Runner: Black Lotus, is producing the film in collaboration with the director behind Ghost in the Shell.
The film will be set 260 years before the more familiar Lord of the Rings trilogy and focus on the story of Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan who spent his reign locked in an endless war and the namesake for Helm’s Deep.
There is no other information on the film nor is there a promotional trailer as of yet. With the film being over two years away from premiering, there is plenty of time to be had before the hype machine revs up.
