Earlier, we reported that a remote code exploit was discovered for Dark Souls 3 for the PC. This exploit could capture your login information for your computer, execute programs in the background, or possibly even hose your PC operating system. As you can imagine, if left unchecked, this exploit could be disastrous for the Dark Souls 3 community. Thankfully, this has been addressed in the latest update for Blue Sentinel.
LukeYui the creator of the Blue Sentinel anti-cheat tool had been working alongside the person who discovered this exploit. Thanks to their efforts, a fix has been found. But only as long as you run the Blue Sentinel anti-cheat tool.
You can find this mod over on Nexusmods. This update is labeled as Blue Sentinel 1.30, and is the only way PC players can play Dark Souls 3 without worrying about the exploit affecting them.
There hasn’t been any word from Bandai Namco and Fromsoftware on if they are working on a patch. However, I wouldn’t hold my breathe as Dark Souls 3 hasn’t been updated in quite some time. The last time an update for the game was released was for patching in 60 FPS for the PlayStation 4 Pro.
As for Elden Ring, Bandai Namco and Fromosoftware have been made aware of this exploit. Even if a patch for Dark Souls 3 doesn’t materialize. You can be sure that the companies will ensure that this exploit won’t be an issue for one of the most anticipated games of 2022.
A big thanks to you, LukeYui, and the unnamed person who discovered this exploit.
