Sakurai Teases A “Celebration Of Gaming” For Final Smash Bros Ultimate Character

By Todd BlackOctober 3, 2021

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a lot of things to a lot of people. But to many, including Masahiro Sakurai, the lead man behind the game, it’s a testament to the rich history of video games across many platforms and generations. Why? Because from the original arcade games, consoles and handhelds to the modern era, Smash Bros Ultimate has a character representing every era, and there’s only one more left to unveil for the game.

The final Sakurai Presents event will happen this Tuesday, and Sakurai himself made a special post about it on Twitter where he said:

The last DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be announced on October 5th ET/PT/CEST.
I hope you all join me live for one last celebration of gaming. Make sure to mark the date in your calendars! https://t.co/gV1B8eYROw

His note about a “celebration of gaming” is a curious thing, because that would imply that it’s a character with a rich history and thus not a recently made one like say Bayonetta or Pyrhha/Mythra from the previous DLC content. So who will it be? We’ll have to wait until Tuesday to find out!
