Pokemon Legends Arceus may be coming out in January of next year, but it’s been doing a good job of slowly releasing information about the gameplay and the Pokemon you’ll be meeting in the region of Hisui (which is the pre-colonized version of Sinnoh). Last week, it was revealed that Zorua and Zoroark are getting regional variant versions in Hisui, and now…we know a bit more about them…
A new trailer showcases the Normal/Ghost-type Pokemon (see below), but additional information makes them a bit more curious than it originally appears.
Apparently, the Zorua of the region moved to Hisui because humans drove them out of their homes. Why? Because the humans didn’t like their illusion powers. The Zorua then DIED upon reaching Hisui because of its harsh conditions. End of story? Not so much, because then they were reborn as Ghost-Type Pokemon out of sheer spite and malice. It’s even said that the Zorua draw their strength from the terror that it gives people when it uses its illusions on them.
Oh, and as for Zoroark? Its illusions have “expressions of such utter malice toward every last thing upon this world that those who see them are said to be driven mad by the terror.” Believe it.
That being said, if you are able to befriend one, it’ll look upon you with compassion, hence why you can catch them, but still, Pokemon Legends Arceus clearly has a theme in terms of some of its regional variants in terms of having an “undying need” to live on…
