We’re just a few months away from the release of Forza Horizon 5 for both the Xbox and PC. And while we’ve heard a lot about the game, nothing to date regarding the PC required specs. Thankfully, that ends today as Playground Games has released a ton of info regarding the PC specs.
Let’s take a look at them below:
Minimum Spec
OS: Windows 10 – Nov 2019 (1909)
CPU: Ryzen 3 1200 / Intel i5-4460
GPU: Radeon RX 470 / Nvidia GTX 970
VRAM: 4GB
RAM: 8GB
HDD: 110GB
Recommended Spec
OS: Windows 10 – Nov 2019 (1909)
CPU: Ryzen 5 1500x / Intel i5-8400
GPU: Radeon RX 590 / Nvidia GTX 1070
VRAM: 8GB
RAM: 16GB
HDD: 110GB
Ideal Spec
OS: Windows 10 – Nov 2019 (1909)
CPU: Ryzen 7 3800XT / Intel i7-10700K
GPU: Radeon RX 6800 XT / Nvidia RTX 3080
VRAM: 16GB
RAM: 16GB
HDD: 110GB SSD
While Playground Games hasn’t stated what resolution goes long for these specs, I’d say it’s safe to assume that the minimum spec is likely 720p@60fps, recommended at 1080p@60fps, and ideal is 4K@30 (or 60) fps. Thankfully these specs aren’t killer either, so most PCs released in the past few years should be ok. We all know we’re still in the middle of a crisis, and PC components, especially CPUs and GPUs, are still hard to come by.
According to Playground Games, Forza Horizon 5 includes” all-new, powerful graphical features, Forza Horizon 5 on PC renders every detail throughout the world with stunning realism, down to the tiniest features like the light that glows through each needle on a Cholla cactus. With extreme draw distances and robust levels of detail, experience sweeping panoramas from the summit of the Gran Caldera volcano – the highest point ever in a Forza Horizon game – and scan the distance ahead to prepare for your next expedition.”
As someone who’s played Forza Horizon 3 and 4 and dealt with the ups and downs of getting the game ported to the PC, this gives me a lot of hope. I hope that Forza Horizon 5 won’t be the technical message that the previous games were and that, for once, the PC version will be on par with the Xbox versions.
In addition to releasing the PC specs, Playground Games also announced that the Forza Horizon 5 would support ultrawide monitors, similar to the previous game, as well as the following steering wheels.
- Logitech: Driving Force, G25, G27, G29, G920, G923PS, G923XB, Momo
- Thrustmaster: Ferrari 458, T150 RS, T300 RS, T500 RS, TMX, T-GT, TS-XW, TX, TS-PC
- Fanatec: V1, V2, V2.5, CSL, CSL DD, DD1, DD2, Universal HUB device
Lastly, and for the first time, haptic feedback on the Xbox Wireless Controller is supported by all versions of Forza Horizon 5. This includes Xbox, Windows PC, and Steam.
As a PC gamer, there’s a lot to be happy about when it comes to Forza Horizon 5. Those with decent PC specs will (hopefully) enjoy a great experience, right along with those who possess an ultrawide screen monitor. Let alone being able to unlock the framerate and pump up the visuals, as well as 4K support. FH5 is shaping into a PC racing game fantasy – I wish it were already here.
Speaking of Forza Horizon 5, don’t forget to pick up the Forza Horizon 5 Limited Edition Controller. It’s still available in several locations, including Best Buy, Amazon, and Gamestop. Not only does the controller look amazing, but it also includes an exclusive Forza edition car and other in-game items.
Forza Horizon 5 releases for Xbox platforms and PC (Windows & Steam) on November 9th, 2021. Are you looking forward to the game like I am?
