Nintendo’s OLED Switch has been the talk of the town — some good, some bad. But there’s no denying that pretty much everyone is going to attempt to pick one up. And today, the Nintendo Switch OLED pre-orders go live today, July 8th, 2021, at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET. You better get those credit cards ready and hope that the websites don’t die on you.
The updated Nintendo Switch OLED is priced at $349.99, which is $50 more than the current system. For that extra price, the updated model includes a 7-inch OLED screen, built-in ethernet port, better speakers, a way better kickstand, and 64GB of internal space. Whether or not this warrants a new Switch purchase, well, that’s up to you.
Here are the locations where you can attempt to snag a Nintendo Switch OLED when the pre-orders go live today.

Should you buy the Nintendo Switch OLED?
Of course, you’re likely asking yourself if picking up the updated Nintendo Switch is worth your hard-earned cash. I know I am. That said, there are several variables to think about. If you don’t already own a Nintendo Switch, then picking this up is a no-brainer. For those who already own a Switch, but find themselves gaming outside of your home, then perhaps it may be worth the upgrade. Considering the OLED screen is larger and is less prone to glare from the sun. The updated speakers are also a nice upgrade as well.
Then there are those who already own a Switch but never take them out of the dock. Just like myself, I rarely take my Nintendo Switch out of the dock unless I’m heading out somewhere. For those sorts of gamers, you’ll have to think real hard if it’s worth it. For me, it isn’t — but that won’t stop me from trying to grab a unit. Chances are these will sell out, and while they’re not a Special Edition that Nintendo will never reprint, they may end up being super hard to acquire after today with the chip shortage and all. That and my son keeps taking mine when I’m not looking, despite having his own, so maybe it makes more sense for me.
Either way, if you’re attempting to snag one, good luck! You’ll be competing against fellow gamers and, of course, those pesky bots who can order a million things before we’ve gotten halfway through the checkout process.
The Nintendo Switch OLED releases on October 8th, 2021, the same date as Metroid Dread.
