DICE LA, most well known for their support work on the Battlefield franchise, has announced its rebrand to Ripple Effect studios per an official press release.
The rebrand signifies a change in focus for the newly established studio that could mean diverging from just supplemental development for EA’s blockbuster FPS and towards creating original titles. A statement from Christian Grass, general manager of Ripple Effect, hints towards this idea.
We’re so proud of our work as DICE LA and the DICE team will forever be a part of our DNA, but over the past eight years, we’ve developed our own culture and our own way of doing things…We’re excited to look towards the future, expand the team and establish our own identity.
Ripple Effect Studios is currently working on a “player-inspired” experience for Battlefield 2042, the newest entry in the Battlefield franchise which was announced last month, as well as an unannounced project.
Vince Zampella who also co-founded Respawn Entertainment will retain his leadership position in Ripple Effect as he did with DICE LA.
A new campus for the studio is also in the works close to the DICE LA campus with remote positions being available for potential employees. In an interview with IGN, Grass states the team had remote working in mind when designing the new office as the pandemic had made some individuals realize they prefer working from a home office.
