We all knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of time. Today, during the Xbox and Bethesda E3 2021 live stream, Bethesda’s upcoming title, Starfield has been confirmed as an Xbox exclusive title. We also have a release date, November 11th, 2022.
This means Starfield sadly won’t grace any PlayStation platforms. We knew this was going to happen after Microsoft/Xbox acquired Bethesda. But at least it’s nice to have a confirmation of the exclusivity.
I’ll leave the scrutinizing analysis to diehard Bethesda fans but the space-faring RPG looks to take the company’s standard formula to greater heights. Running on their revamped, in-house engine–dubbed the Creation Engine 2–Starfield will release only on the Xbox Series consoles and PC showcasing what Bethesda can truly do with beefier machines. Additionally, the RPG will be available at launch on Xbox Game Pass.
While Starfield was officially first show in the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, the trailer leaked just minutes before due to a publishing error at The Washington Post.
Starfield is being published by Xbox Game Studios and developed by Bethesda Softworks. It will release on Xbox Series X|S and PC on November 11, 2022
