One of my biggest issues with Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown was the matchmaking. In a word, it stinks, and I was sure to highlight that in my review of the game. There was no way to search for friends or specific rooms. You had to search over and over and pray that you find something. Thankfully, Sega has released an update that allows players to search for rooms.
Version Update: Ver.1.03 (June 10, 2021) 1/3:
We are pleased to announce that the Room ID search feature has been added today!#VirtuaFighter #VF5US pic.twitter.com/P0Yfut2ViA— バーチャファイター公式/Virtua Fighter Official (@vf_official) June 10, 2021
To access this new search function, you’ll need to set up a new room. Once that’s done, press triangle, and it will show a room ID in the upper right-hand corner. All you have to do now is give this ID out to whoever you want to have it. For those searching for rooms, head over to room search and press triangle. This will bring up a prompt where you can enter the room ID.
It’s something that should have been implemented in the game from the start, to be honest. I’m glad that Sega added the function, and that’s not the only thing that’s heading to the game. Sega is also at work with another update that will add ability to invite friends into lobbies. Again, another thing that should have been included – but as long as it gets added, I’ll be happy.
Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and is free to play with a PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now subscription.
