After being leaked for a few weeks, Microsoft has not only hosted a live stream earlier today but also announced the official release date of Windows 11. During the ‘What’s Next for Windows’ event, the company showed off the new and improved Windows 11, along with several new features such as Xbox Game Pass, Auto HDR and Direct Storage being built directly into the operating system. It’s also quite the looker, with a bunch of new visual UI changes.
As for when you can expect to get your hands on an official version of Windows 11, plan on that later this year. It seems Microsoft has an infinity for releasing products during the Holiday season and Windows 11 is no exception. However, if you simply can’t wait to get your hands on Windows 11, not to worry, Microsoft has you covered.
Starting on June 28th, 2021, Microsoft will start sending out Windows 11 betas to existing Windows Insiders members. If you’re not a Windows Insider member, head on over to the website and sign up.
Now that Windows 11 has officially been announced, expect to see Microsoft pushing the OS a lot over the next few months. Either from upgrading from Windows 1o or for those who’ve yet to jump from Windows 8.x. As for myself, I’m excited to see the gaming performance updates; Auto HDR, and Direct Storage. More so Direct Storage, as it will help the PC in terms of faster loading speeds in games – as long as the game is supported. I’m definitely looking for this being utilized in upcoming PC games.
When will Windows 11 be released?
There’s no exact release date but look for the new OS around the 2021 Holiday season. The upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 will be free to all users.
