Sonic The Hedgehog is an icon of the video game world, and it’s been 30 years since his creation by SEGA. There have been many highs (and many lows) for the franchise and it’s still chugging on today. So, SEGA decided to go and deliver a very special presentation to highlight and tease much of what you can expect from Sonic in the upcoming months as well as next year.
For example, there are going to be a bunch of Sonic collaborations, including ones for the official Olympic Games video game, Lost Judgment, and possibly Minecraft!
The first true Sonic Central reveal though was of Sonic Colors Ultimate. A remaster of the original game coming to all platforms on September 7th and will feature additional content from the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Furthermore, there’s going to be a two-part animation special called Sonic Colors Rise of the Wisps that’ll be fully voiced, including Roger Craig Smith returning to be Sonic!
If you’re looking for a more old-school thing, then there’s the announcement of Sonic Origins. A collection coming in 2022 that’ll feature many of the original Sonic games so you can play them on new consoles, and with some new content!
We also got information on the upcoming Netflix series Sonic Prime. It’ll be a 24-episode season/series (it wasn’t made clear) where Sonic will enter the “Shatterverse” and have to overcome many things over the course of his adventure.
Other news including a 30th-anniversary symphony that you can watch for free, new Sonic merch, and, a small teaser for a brand-new Sonic The Hedgehog title coming in 2022. You can watch the full Sonic Central presentation below.
