Over the next two days, Square-Enix has dedicated a digital fan festival to Final Fantasy XIV, releasing a lot of new information about their next expansion “Endwalker“. You can watch the main highlight videos below.
This first video is a trailer for the upcoming Endwalker expansion, giving fans a chance to take a look at the gameplay, story, characters, and more.
The first main thing announced was the second new class for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, called The Reaper, you play as an interesting version of a Lancer that is more demonic-looking and acting than any other Final Fantasy XIV class. Outside of owning Endwalker, the only prerequisite requirement to access the Reaper class is to have completed all content from the previous Final Fantasy XIV expansions, aka getting to the current max level with a character.
Next up was a bit of the location that will be featured in Endwalker, with new towns and areas being shown off to the crowd. The following short videos show a small glimpse of where you will be traveling in Endwalker, going from European-inspired locations… TO THE FREAKIN MOON!!!
New Town “Old Sharlayan” gives off that Greece vibe, especially with the statue of a woman draining water.
New Area “Labyrinthos”, much like Old Sharlayan above, looks like its a cross between Greece and Italian inspired architecture.
New Area “Thavnair” brings about that Hindu vibe with its look.
New Town “Radz-at-Han” looks very much like an India-inspired area.
New Area “Mare Lamentorum” was the final area to be shown off, and man what a place to go to! This looks like Final Fantasy XIV will be going to the moon! Unlike other MMO games which have gone into space, this look somewhat interesting since this area looks like something we, as people, could do one day.
Of course, what would an MMO-RPG be without dungeons for you to jump into with friends (or groups of randoms) and fight your way through? It wouldn’t be very fun. Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker will bring new dungeons and raids into the game, which you can see in the sizzle reel below.
New Mount “Arion”, which will be included in the Final Fantasy XIV Collectors Edition was also sown off. Not a bad pony with wings.
When Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker appears, people will have to make a choice. In addition to the standard edition, there will be a special one as well. Naoki Yoshida revealed the Endwalker Collector’s Edition. Starting with Endwalker, there will be no physical discs. People will only get downloads.

Another new thing that was announced was the expansion of the Data Centres that handle the flow of data and host servers for Final Fantasy XIV into the Oceanic region with an Australian Data Centre to give those people playing in Australia and New Zealand a chance to play Final Fantasy XIV without experiencing a huge amount of lag that they currently do with the American, Europe, and Japanese Data Centres. As an Australian, I am excited to get a character onto that data center. The new Data Centre will launch “hopefully” around the same time as patch 6.0, aka Endwalker.
The final piece of information to be announced during this keynote address was the release date for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. The announced release date is November 23, 2021, meaning it will happen right in the middle of the American holiday period of Thanksgiving, giving the current 5.5 patch another 6 months of time to be completed before the Endwalker expansion gets released. Early Access will be granted to Collectors Edition buyers with that access beginning on November 19, 2021.
While Josh & Matt are ready for Pantheon (which will one day go into beta access), and I’ve removed myself from playing World of Warcraft, we will also be covering as much of Final Fantasy XIV from many different areas, from news on Endwalker to the experience of playing from a fresh set of eyes as Keith and I get around to playing Final Fantasy XIV from scratch with the free trial through to paid content, whatever that may be after Endwalker releases.
Come on back to The Outerhaven as we cover more of Final Fantasy: Endwalker from release and beyond.
