While ArcSys has delayed its upcoming fighting title, Guilty Gear Strive, the developer mentioned it would host another beta. This open beta will take place from May 13th to 7:59 AM PT on May 16th. It will be available on both the PS4 and PS5, with the PC being left out again.
However, there will be a couple of notable differences from the prior beta. This time, the entire roster will be playable; this includes both Anji and I-NO. English voices are also being added if you’re a fan of that. There will also be several in-game modes to check out, unlike last time.
- Versus – Play against the CPU or another player.
- Tutorial – Learn the basics of gameplay.
- Training – Practice with custom settings.
- Network – Play against others from across the globe. Player Matches (player-created rooms) will not be available during the beta test.
If you participated in the prior open beta, the installed beta client will be updated to the newest update. Assuming if you didn’t already delete it off your console. Otherwise, you’ll need to download the updated open beta client, starting on May 7th, 2021.
One of my biggest concerns with Guilty Gear Strive was the lobby system, and I’m sure if you played the beta, you also had some choice words for it. It took way too long to get a match started, and it lacked the most basic options. No ability to change rounds, damage levels, nor could you restart a match. It was terrible. Thankfully, ArcSys mentioned they would be overhauling that during the delay. It wasn’t mentioned if that overhauled lobby would make it into the upcoming open beta. Fingers crossed that it does, otherwise this is going to be frustrating.
Guilty Gear Strive arrives on June 11, 2021, for PS4, PS5, and Steam.
