Polish game development studio Covenant.dev, which is made up of former members of CD Projekt Red, gave us our first look at their upcoming title Gord. Gord is a hybrid adventure-strategy-city builder-survival game steeped in Slavic folklore that looks to revel in its grim world and atmosphere in the best way possible.
Gord is a single-player, adventure strategy game featuring developing societies, eerie forbidden lands, and remarkable mythical creatures. Players complete quests and manage a populace whose personal stories and well-being impact the fate of the settlement.
During your time in this perilous land, you’ll have to ensure the survival as well as the psychological state of your tribe. Your village will be under attack from all manner threats. Everything from humans to animals to a very gnarly looking tree with a big gross face that eats people.
The game will also feature procedural generation and random events to keep things fresh even on subsequent playthroughs. You’ll have to contend with raids, weather, and resource management. All of which can be tailored to whatever experience you want to have. Whether you want to have a more subdued and less stressful adventure or a completely relentless and brutal journey, you can decide what you want out of Gord.
Covenant is putting a lot into this game to keep players enthralled and coming back for more. From the dark and macabre aesthetic to the varied options for maintaining building your village to the ever-present lore. Gord has a lot of moving parts and a mishmash of very varied properties, but they all look like they’re going together in a very unique and enjoyable package. It’s definitely one to look out for if you’re a strategy or survival fan.
