Sony announced that the PlayStation Store will no longer allow the purchase or rental of television content, including movies starting on August 31.
The reason given by Sony is that the move is being made due to “subscription-based and ad-based entertainment streaming services on our consoles.” In other words, Sony selling content is a conflict between partners such as Netflix, Hulu, etc.
However, if you have already purchased television content through the PlayStation Store, you will still have access to it after the August 31 cutoff date. This continued access goes for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices.
