PlayStation has shown that the amount of VR games released for the PSVR have been less than ideal, the company hasn’t given up on VR. A few days ago, the company announced that it is working on a next-gen VR for the PlayStation 5. Today, PlayStation revealed several new titles for its existing PSVR, and we’ve rounded up every announcement for you.
DOOM 3: VR
DOOM 3: VR was originally released for the PC, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. DOOM 3, with VR, tacked on, and it’s better than you would think it would be. This port will include the base game and the expansions; Ressurection of Evil and The Lost Mission. The PSVR port will support both the PS4 and PS5; believe it or not, the PSVR aim controller. This is one of my favorite titles for my Oculus Rift S, so I’ll be interested to see how the port translates over to the PlayStation 4/5.
After The Fall
This game looks interesting, and my interest is piqued, mainly due to the Arizona Sunshine developer being behind this game. The very same developer who originally enticed me to get my first VR headset. After The Fall is an action-packed FPS in a post-apocalyptic VR world, pitting the player against hordes of the undead and more. Yep, it sounds like Arizona Sunshine on steroids. I’m ready.
Fracked
From the creators of the ground-breaking Phantom: Covert Ops, Fracked is the trailblazing new VR action adventure that seamlessly collides relentless “run and cover” gunfights with free and fluid skiing and climbing. Uncompromised, audacious, and unashamedly stylish, Fracked grabs the PS VR by the Moves and delivers an ass-kicking virtual reality game that has been fully enhanced for PS5.
I Expect You To Die 2
A follow-up to the original escape room title, I Expect You To Die 2, originally announced for the PC back during January 2021. While this game hasn’t been released yet, judging by the announcement trailer, it looks to be similar to the first game, and that’s not a bad thing.
Song in the Smoke
From the developer of Galak-Z, 17-bit, comes a VR-survival game, Song in the Smoke. Based on the trailer, this looks to be an exploration, hunting, scavenging, and survival game, with a touch of the supernatural, tossed in.
Zenith
This one, well, is interesting. An anime-inspired VR MMO that’s exclusive to the PlayStation 4.Not much is known about this game, but it looks like a social experiment, to say the least. I’m pretty sure this is the first VR MMO, and that’s some bold ambition, that’s for sure. Set generations after a cataclysmic event known only as The Fracture, players will be drawn into an engrossing tale as they fight man and gods alike to prevent catastrophe from striking again. Using the power of Essence, the magical lifeblood of all living beings, players will grow increasingly powerful as they adventure together — meeting a colorful cast of champions and villains along the way.
