Add another one to the list as the organizers for Comiket (Comic Market) 99 announced that this year’s event has been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. Tokyo was set to lift its state of emergency at the end of February but decided to extend it until March 21.
Despite the impending lift, there are still transitional measures in place and will be for quite some time. The event was scheduled to be held from May 2-4; however, officials cite that transitional measures will still be in place and there would be too many restrictions to safely hold the event at a capacity that is expected of them.
Even though the staff have not made any definitive plans, they are aiming for next winter. On average, Comiket typically gets 200,000 people per event.
