Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Sequel is Called Sonic The Hedgehog 2

Surprise, we have a new trailer informing us that the sequel to ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ movie will be called ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’. Shocker, I know, right?

But this trailer is more than it seems, especially to faith Sonic the Hedgehog fans, who’ll notice that Tails has been added to the logo. Tails Miles Prowler (Miles Per Hour) was briefly shown at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog, as he came to Earth looking for Sonic. Who knows what will happen when he does, but they’ll likely become best buds, just like in the game.

It also has a snazzy take on the Emerald Hill Zone Stage music, which is the first area you’ll encounter in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (the game).

It’s like; it totally makes sense for this to be the name. But seriously, I’m not sure why Paramount thought they needed to release a trailer that does nothing other than to let us know that the sequel is coming. We already knew that since last year. And it’s not like the movie flopped either, as it turns out it was one of the best video game adaptions of all time. And yes, even though ‘Detective Pikachu‘ made more at the box office, Sonic had the better movie. There, I said it. And yet, as someone whos’ been a Sonic fan since I grabbed the Sega Genesis controller as my friend passed it to me and I played the game for the first time, this resonates with me.

Sonic The Hedgehog (2020) Movie Review

That said, I wonder who the baddie will be this time. With Dr. Robotnik already banished to the “Mushroom Planet” (Mushroom Hill Zone), who is Sonic going to face up against? Sure, Robotnik could make a return, but with the Sequel looking like it will take place immediately after the first movie, it seems unlikely. Sonic does have those rings so traveling to various planets isn’t out of the question, and perhaps the sequel won’t take place on Earth. Man, already, I’m deep in thought as to what will happen next.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 the Movie arrives in theaters next April 9th, 2022. That is, unless COVID-19 is still plaguing the world, then we’ll likely see a direct to home release.
