Arc Systemworks has announced that it will host the Guilty Gear Strive open beta this month. Starting on February 18th, the open beta will take place until the 21st. The open beta will be available for both the PS4 and PS5, with the PC sadly being left out.
And while this is an open beta, anyone who has pre-ordered the game digitally will be able to download the beta a day and play one day earlier. Everyone else will have to wait until the 18th.
According to Arc Systemworks, this demo will be a beefy one as it will include 13 playable characters, including one of the new characters to the GG roster, Giovanna. The beta will also include three modes; Dojo, Network, and Versus. We did a rundown of all the available modes in Guilty Gear Strive here.
But the biggest news is that a new implementation of ArcSys’s rollback netcode will power the online portion of the game. This was actually one of the main reasons that Guilty Gear Strive was delayed into 2021, as it was originally slated to be released in 2020.
Guilty Gear Strive is now scheduled for an April 9th, 2021 release date. That’s assuming this beta goes well, which wasn’t the case for the first beta. Fans of Guilty Gear had more than a few things to say about the game, including the netcode. Hopefully, they’ll have better things to say about this beta.
Expect a full write-up from The Outerhaven once the beta is over.
