Did you watch the latest trailers for Resident Evil Village and think to yourself, “Damn, I really have to get that wool coat that Chris Redfield is absolutely rocking?” No, yes, maybe? Well, Capcom has decided that the Tall Vampire Lady isn’t the only person who deserves recognition for their fashion sense, as you can now order an exact replica of Chris Redfield’s coat. However, unless you’re the merchant from Resident Evil 4, the price tag may make you jump.
On Capcom’s Japanese site, the exclusive Chris Redfield coat is available for 159,731JPY, which comes out to roughly $1,540 in US dollars. the coat comes in four different sizes: Medium, Large, Extra Large, and “Original Model.” As pointed out by Kotaku, the “Original Model” is the size of the one scanned into the game. Essentially, if you choose that option, you can know for certain whether you have the exact proportions of zombie-killing hero Chris Redfield. The coat does not come with buttons.
However, if you’d like to cosplay Chris Redfield, save some money, AND have buttons, there are other wool coats that look similar, such as this one from Mango. It’s worth noting that at the time of writing, the Dark Navy version of the $150 coat is out of stock. Perhaps from the Resident Evil cosplayers who knew a good deal when they saw one. Until then, you could wait for it to come back in stock, or pay over a thousand more for the official version.
Personally, I think we should all wait to see if Capcom releases a hat or dress for cosplayers to recreate the iconic looks of the Extremely Tall Vampire Lady, now known as Lady Dimitrescu. After all, even if the costume comes out to over $1,500, you’re getting A LOT of fabric.
Resident Evil Village will arrive with all virtual clothing included on May 7th of this year, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom has released a standalone demo for the game, entitled The Maiden, which players can check out on exclusively on PlayStation 5.
