The other day, Nintendo had a final Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase, and during it they had two major reveals in terms of 3rd party support in that Hitman III and Control Ultimate Edition would be coming to the console via Cloud Streaming. This was done on the Switch before via games like Resident Evil VII…but that was only done in Japan and was meant to be a rather low-key thing. However, with these two, they got full-on trailers to show they were coming to the Nintendo Switch.
And now, the company that helped make that happen, Ubitus, is stating that more of these Cloud Streaming games would be on the way from big-name partners.
The company teased in its announcement for Control: “In addition to 505 Games, Ubitus is currently working with numerous industry-leading game developers, aiming to bring their best games to the Nintendo Switch shortly.”
Ubitus also noted the various plus sides cloud streaming, stating that players can “enable realistic features such as ray-tracing rendered by high-end GPUs”. There’s also no need to think about storage limitations, download times, installations, or updates. Players simply “connect to the internet, select the game, and immediately enjoy the latest and greatest gameplay.”
As to what other games might be coming, that’s hard to say, but given that these two major titles were shown, it’s possible that it could be any that isn’t exclusive to a console. Only time will tell!
Control Ultimate Edition Cloud Version is available now if you want to try it on the Switch.
