VIZ Media announced today that they are set to release Chiho Saito’s Revolutionary Girl Utena: After the Revolution!
VIZ Media describes the manga as follows:
Utena has saved Anthy by defeating Akio in the final duel, but in doing so she has vanished from the world. Now the student council members at Ohtori Academy find themselves in their own revolutions.
The manga’s release is part of VIZ Media’s campaign to help bring positivity and acceptance into the LGBTQ+ community. Titles such as Revolutionary Girl Utena have broken through the glass ceiling as an accepting outlet of expression back in the 1920’s thanks to works from Yoshiya Nobuko. For Japan’s young, manga is the only source of positive representation they can identify with. A manga’s characters and narrative can act as an initial relatable source of exposure to Japan’s youth, especially at a young age. Because as such, works like Revolutionary Girl Utena are seen as groundbreaking.
Revolutionary Girl Utena: After the Revolution is set to release on October 6 at a retail price of $12.99
