Think we were going to forgo awards season just because there’s a pandemic on? Not in this reality. The 2020 Emmy Awards gave us a glimpse of what a fully-digital award show was going to look like. And while it was less fun than these things tend to be when we can have multiple people in a room, it was still entertaining to watch.
As predicted by many, the comedy Schitt’s Creek, which had its final season this year, swept the awards in every category it was nominated in. HBO’s Succession also took home a number of prizes, including Best Drama, as did Watchmen. I am surprised Mrs. America didn’t take home more, but at least Uzo Aduba took home a prize for her portrayal of Shirley Chisholm.
