Despite Valve’s Left 4 Dead 2 being seemingly left for dead, it seems the community has one more trick up its sleeve for the 2009 co-op zombie shooter, in one final update.
This final update is called “The Last Stand” and is being worked on by a handful of faithful Left 4 Dead modders, and surprisingly enough they have the blessing from Valve to work on this update. What’s interesting about this update is that it surrounds the map called “The Last Stand” that was featured in the first Left 4 Dead title, but was not included in the sequel. Somehow the modders working on this update will explain to why this map is so important. As a former Left 4 Dead player, I’m looking forward to seeing how this all works out.
Taking a glance over on the L4D website, a summary of this update can be found along with a short trailer.
It has been many years since the infection first hit. Radio silence, no sign of life, nothing but lingering hopes… CEDA is not going to save us. But there is hope! A few brave souls have continued the fight against all odds, and soon we can all benefit from their resilience.
So all of you out there who refused to uninstall Left 4 Dead 2, your patience is about to be rewarded in one final send up for the Left 4 Dead 2 crew. Maybe after this, Valve can consider working on Left 4 Dead 3, if they manage to learn to count to three that is. Once this is released, I suppose I won’t have any excuse to play Left 4 Dead 2 with my son, who keeps asking me to play it, even to this day.
As for when we’ll see The Last Stand update released, is anyone’s guess. Until then, we’ll keep checking out the official Left 4 Dead website for more information.
