After YouTube let go of the critically-acclaimed and popular series Cobra Kai, fans were confused and distraught. Netflix, however, swooped in and got the rights to the series, giving them the ability to post the show’s first two seasons as well as produce and distribute the third. But there was no clear timeline for when that transfer would happen, nor for when the next season would be made. Well, Netflix has announced Cobra Kai is officially making the move.

In a new video released by Netflix, we get a quick recap of scenes from the first and second season, highlighting the growth of both the new Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do and the tension between our two leads. Right at the end though, there’s a brief stinger for Season 3, with Daniel being attack by someone with a sai, as he says that Mr. Miyagi never kept secrets from him, and the stranger asks if he’s sure.
This is a great move for the series, since Season 2 was still behind the YouTube Red paywall, as was Season 1 for quite some time. Now that the show will be on one of the biggest streaming platforms, its fanbase and pop culture legacy is likely to increase quickly. It’ll also be interesting to see what surprises are coming with Season 3.
Cobra Kai Seasons 1 and 2 hit Netflix on August 28, 2020. Cobra Kai Season 3 is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2021.
