Fans of Flying Wild Hog’s and Devolver Digital’s gory yet fun as hell action romp, Shadow Warrior, can relax now as Shadow Warrior 3 has officially been announced.
While the game was previously rumored, with the release of today’s trailer, which you should check out below, it has officially been confirmed. Speaking of the trailer, it looks like SW3 will be running on an upgraded version of the Road Hog Engine, which happens to be Flying Wind Hog’s customized game engine. Sure, it’s not the Unreal Engine that powers several AAA games, make no mistake, the Road Hog Engine is no slough.
While this new trailer only looks to serve as a teaser, we’ll get a full reveal and gameplay later this week during Devolver Digital’s Livestream that takes place on July 11th, 2020, over at twitch.tv/twitchgaming.
Shadow Warrior 3 finds Lo Wang and his former employer turned nemesis turned sidekick Orochi Zilla embarking on an improbable mission to recapture an ancient dragon they unwillingly unleashed from its eternal prison.
Armed with a punishing mix of blades and bullets, Lo Wang must traverse uncharted parts of the world to track down the dark beast and push the apocalypse back yet again. All it will take is the mask of a dead god, a dragon’s egg, a touch of magic, and enough firepower to tear down the encroaching Shadowlands.
We are beyond excited to bring Shadow Warrior fans a completely fresh experience, and we can’t wait to show off the new features we have in store for them. We want to make sure that our fast-paced gunplay sequences, razor-sharp melee combat, and spectacular free-running movement, will get their adrenaline pumping and senses thumping,” remarked Game Director Kuba Opoń.
But we never forget Flying Wild Hog’s roots and we hope that Shadow Warrior 3 will feel like a homecoming for those fans that have been with us since the beginning. And we can’t wait to introduce new players to Lo Wang, our quick-witted hero with a tongue as sharp as his katana. Shadow Warrior 3 will see him face a threat so huge it may be too big even for him to handle.
That last bit is important, as hope this means a return to the map design from the first game. While Shadow Warrior 2 was a fun game, I wasn’t a fan of the randomized maps, nor were other fans of the game. Outside of that, if FWH can rework the magic they pumped into Shadow Warrior 2, then we’re in for a hell of a time.
Though, I do have one question. Is that… Hoji’s mask from Dodge Roll Games’ Enter the Gungeon? If so, how the heck it Lo Wang get it? Hmm….
Oh, why not check out our review of Shadow Warrior 2. If you haven’t played the game yet, it’s on sale right now and you’re missing out on a most excellent first-person shooter.
