Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, stars of the original Jurassic Park, will appear as more than just cameos in the upcoming Jurassic World: Dominion. Jeff Goldblum reprised his role as Dr. Ian Malcom in the last entry in the series, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. However, the part amounted to a small cameo at the beginning and end of the film. This time, he’ll be in it the whole way through. Alan Grant, played by Sam Neill, and Ellie Sattler, played by Laura Dern, have yet to appear in a film in the Jurassic World reboot trilogy.
Speaking with Yahoo Movies, Neill said, “We’re all the way through the film, Jeff [Goldblum], and me, and Laura [Dern].” He also shared that he “probably won’t be running quite as fast as I was 27 years ago!”
The Jurassic Park movie series kicked off with the original in 1993 which spawned two sequels. The series saw a soft reboot in 2015 with Jurassic World, which takes place in the same universe as the original but features new characters played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The Jurassic World trilogy will close out with Jurassic World: Dominion, which will arrive on June 11th, 2021.
While the coronavirus did slow down production, Neill confirmed that they resumed under quarantine and seem to be set to meet the film’s release date on schedule. Colin Trevorrow, who directed Jurassic World, will return for the third entry in the trilogy. Last year, Laura Dern revealed the return of the original cast, but now we know that they’ll at least be in the film for longer than it takes the dinosaurs to escape. After all, they always find a way.
