I’m excited to see that Nintendo has finally decided to release Donkey Kong Country (SNES) onto Nintendo Switch Online. Seriously, what the heck took them so long?
Along with Donkey Kong Country is Natsume Championship Wrestling and The Immortal, an isometrical action title from the NES. I’ve spent a large chunk of my gaming life on these games, especially the wrestling title. All three will be available for Nintendo Switch subscribers on July 15, 2020. If you don’t already have a subscription, you can pick one up for just $19.99. This includes one year of access, the ability to play Switch online-enabled multiplayer games such as Splatoon 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
I’m still waiting for several childhood favorites such as Demon Sword (I Loved that Game!), SNK’s P.O.W, and Data East’s Bad Dudes. Here’s to hoping we see either of these names soon.
As for Nintendo Switch Online SNES and NES gaming schedules, ever since Nintendo stated they were no longer going to release games monthly we’ve seen fewer games. Which is why I eventually let my Switch Online membership lapse. C’mon Nintendo, you have this vast catalog, yet you’re acting like a novice gaming company. Give us the goods and make Switch Online a viable service, unlike it is currently.
