It was announced in September 2019 that Kaiu Shirai’s The Promised Neverland would receive a live-action movie. Now, it was announced that it will receive a live-action TV adaptation as well. The adaptation is set to be a part of Amazon’s offering of digital entertainment.
Meghan Malloy (The Jungle Book) is scheduled to write the script for the series while Rodney Rothman (Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse) will serve as director and executive producer.
In addition, Masi Oka is set to be an executive producer. Oka previously produced the live-action Death Note and is currently working on Capcom’s live-action Mega Man movie and a live-action Attack on Titan adaptation.
As of now, there is no target air date for the live-action television series.
The Promised Neverland currently has a 12-episode anime season that has finished airing with a second season on the way. The manga is being published here in North America by VIZ Media.
