If it wasn’t obvious at the end of the amazing ‘Sonic the Hedgehog‘ film from Paramount Pictures, this ground-breaking videogame adaption is getting a sequel. Who saw that coming? Oh, all of us did!
This past Thursday, both Sega and Paramount Pictures confirmed that they have already started development on the follow-up. Thankfully, Jeff Fowler will return to direct, with Josh Miller and Pat Casey handling the script. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, Toru Nakahara, Hajime Satomi, Haruki Satomi, Tim Miller are also returning as producers for the sequel.
There hasn’t been any word on if any of the original actors, including the voice of Sonic, Ben Schwartz, would be returning. In my opinion, the entire supporting cast needs to return as they had some amazing on-screen charisma and helped make the movie what it was; an adorable family fun outing for all.
So there you go, the official confirmation of the sequel. I mean, I suppose seeing Tails at the end wasn’t a big enough signal. Or that film made $300 million worldwide, becoming the number fifth video game adaption of all time, trailing behind ‘Warcraft’, ‘Detective Pikachu’, ‘Rampage’, ‘Prince of Persia’ and ‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’.
We loved the movie, I mean we completely loved it. Not only did we review it, which you can read about here, but I watched it three times in theaters. Now that the movie is available for home consumption, it’s been in my COVID-19 rotation. I’m watching it right now if you’re wondering.
Gotta go fast!
