There have been many successes on the Nintendo Switch over its first three full years of life (we’re in year four right now), but without a doubt one of the biggest successes has been Splatoon 2. The game refined many things from the Wii U Classic, and amped it up even more, and as a result, it’s one of the best-selling games on the system, and has done exceptionally well in Japan. But, not unlike the first game, one of the key things for the title was the Splatfests.
For those who don’t know, Splatfests were special competitions where players would choose a side between two options, and then battle against other players to try and determine who was the best. Splatoon 2 had two years of these events, and they were full of life and energy. But then…they stopped…
Until this popped up on Twitter…
It’s a #Splatoon2 #Splatfest so contentious we have to do it twice! #TeamMayo and #TeamKetchup are back and it’s up to you to determine which sauce is the boss!
This bonus one-off Splatfest kicks off 5/22 at 3pm PT and ends 5/24 at 3pm PT. pic.twitter.com/n5Ar6EUkJ0

Yes, this is real, we’re getting a classic Splatfest back in Mayonaise versus Ketchup! Now, I’m sure some of you might be confused by this, especially since this didn’t happen with the original game. But the answer to it might be more simple than you think. Because Nintendo also noted this on their Twitter handle:
Inkoming! A Special Demo event for #Splatoon2 is on the way! You’ll be able to play Turf War, Ranked Battle, Salmon Run, and more beginning 4/29 at 11pm PT, to 5/6 at 6:59am PT. pic.twitter.com/U8tYN4SAVn

No doubt Nintendo is aiming to bring people back to the classic multiplayer title amidst everything going on in the world, and are using the Splatfest to further entice them!
So if you haven’t gotten the game on Switch yet, this is the perfect time!
