This morning, Bungie let the open the floodgates and revealed the new upcoming Season of the Worthy, coming to Destiny 2 on March 10th, and will it comes a new Exotic Auto Rifle called Tommy’s Matchbook, and some more Destiny 1 nostalgia in the form of Trials of Osiris.
“With the Sundial freed from the clutches of the Red Legion, one escaped Psion Flayer enacts a desperate ploy for revenge against the Last City. Guardians of the Light must set aside old differences to band together with unlikely allies and save the City from total destruction,” reads the site’s official description.
Below is the trailer, as well as some details on what’s coming along with the new season of content.
The Season of the Worthy comes with some of the pretty standard fair items, including a new Exotic Auto Rifle, Tommy’s Matchbook, a returning D1 exotic in 4th Horseman, and a new Seasonal Artifact called the Warmind Khanjali to level up and earn new mods as well as a never-ending increase to your power level.
But don’t get too excited, according to Luke Smith over on Twitter, the game director let everyone know that until they can implement a cap to the power bonus you receive on the artifact, that it will not affect your Power level in the returning Trials of Osiris. It seems that the Power Level will follow suit with previous seasons, raising the base Power Level to 970 and the Pinnacle Power Level to 980 which you can only earn in the toughest of end game level activities.
The Trails of Osiris trailer is below in case you’ve missed it.
That’s right folks, as we let you know just a few days ago, the Trials of Osiris is coming back, which means I’m going to be a lot busier on Friday nights again! On March 13th, players will be able to return to 3 reprised Destiny 1 maps including Anomaly, Cauldron, and Exodus Blue, all 3 are fan-favorite maps, especially for the Trials mode. Trials of Osiris will also have it’s own Seal and Title for players to work towards.
While most players, myself included, are especially excited for Trials, Season of the Worthy also brings plenty of PvE content as well. First off, on March 10th, there is going to be a new activity called the Seraph Tower Event which will bring new Legendary weapons and gear, as well as the Seraph Bunker: EDZ and Moon on March 24th. These seem to be reprised Lost Sectors at a Legendary difficulty, likely to tie into the Rasputin ties to the lore that this Season seems to be going for.
On April 21st, the new Nightfall difficulty Grandmaster Ordeal will become available and introduce not only new end-game level rewards but also it’s own Seal and Title. This is likely going to take the place of a Raid this season and as long as it’s as exciting as the current Master Ordeal difficulty, it’s something I’m looking forward to, especially for a Title!
April 21st-May 11th will also see a new event called Guardian Games, which is free to all players, Bungie only describes it as a Class Competition which will bring new Legendary armor. The final item on the Season of the Worthy road map is another Legendary level Seraph Bunker on IO on April 7th. Don’t worry, Bungie is no stranger to surprise events in-game, there may be some secrets yet to be revealed. This is certainly the least detailed road map we’ve gotten in some time, and I think it’s because Bungie wants us to be excited about what new secrets might spill out!
