In 2018, moviegoers were captive by A Quiet Place, a film that made every little sound cause for panic and alarm as aliens murdered anything above a whisper. The ending was bleak, but there was room for growth. Now, on the first day of 2020, we get a look at what that growth might be with the first trailer for A Quiet Place Part II:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
As you can see, all of our surviving leads are back for this film, as well as Cillian Murphy as another survivor, and Djimon Hounsou, who appears mostly in flashbacks. John Krasinski is back to direct, so we’ll get some consistency in the storytelling in that sense.
What’s cool about this trailer is not only that we get to see the Abbott family continuing to explore the world, but also we will see how it all started. Murphy’s character says that the people who are still alive are not worth saving, supposedly tied to his past during the invasion. Is his character friend or foe? Will there be a way to end the invasion? And more importantly, how are they going to carry a baby around without it making any noise?
A Quiet Place Part II is set to premiere in theaters on March 20, 2020.
