The Game Awards is rolling on right now, but there’s been a bit of a big upset in a unique way on the show. Host Geoff Keighley introduced a new category called the “Player’s Voice Award”, and it was a simple concept, to have a tournament style fan-vote to see what the best game of the year was. And lo and behold, Fire Emblem Three Houses won the tournament.
The reason this is an upset is that Fire Emblem Three Houses was NOT nominated for Game of the Year, in fact, the only category it WAS nominated for was best strategy game, of which it won. So for Three Houses to beat out all other comers, and do it by fan vote? That’s pretty impressive.
Thank you to the fans for choosing #FireEmblem: Three Houses as the winner of the Player’s Voice award at #TheGameAwards! pic.twitter.com/x0H2cT8kNG
