Pixar knows how to pull on those heartstrings, but they usually save it for when they finally get those butts in seats. However, they seem to be pulling all the stops with their new movie, Soul, which has a teaser trailer that’s ready to inspire…and inspire your eyes to start crying:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Soul introduces Joe Gardner, a middle-school band teacher whose true passion is playing jazz…In the film, just when Joe thinks his dream might be in reach, a single unexpected step sends him to a fantastical place where he’s is forced to think again about what it truly means to have soul. That’s where he meets and ultimately teams up with 22, a soul who doesn’t think life on Earth is all it’s cracked up to be.
Jamie Foxx will play Joe, with Tina Fey as 22. If you couldn’t tell from the tone of the trailer, the plot will revolve around Joe trying to convince 22 that living on Earth is a good thing. The cast also includes Questlove, Phylicia Rashad, and Daveed Diggs. Soul is directed by Peter Docter, who also wrote and directed Up and Inside Out, so you know you are in for a very cathartic cry.
Soul is set to premiere in theaters on June 19, 2020.
