Fire Emblem Three Houses was without a doubt one of the biggest games to come out this year, both for Nintendo and for gaming as a whole. As the first console Fire Emblem game since Radiant Dawn on the Wii there were a lot of expectations. Thankfully, the game lived up to them and more, and now, Nintendo has revealed via its latest quarterly info briefing that the game has sold 2.29 million units as of September 2019.
While that may seem small compared to many other million-sellers on the Nintendo Switch, do recall that the franchise was only recently elevated to AAA status in the eyes of Nintendo, and the fanbase is still a little niche. What’s more, it has outpaced the other games in the franchise by a solid margin. The combined sales of Fire Emblem Fates (which was three games if you recall) was 1.86 million by March 2016 and Fire Emblem Awakening (which basically saved the franchise) was at 1.79 by December 2014. So there’s a lot to praise about Three Houses doing so well.
There are many who consider it a Game of the Year Contender, and these sales all but confirm that a sequel will come to either the Switch or the next system once the Three Houses DLC is done.
